I am starting to feel like myself again and taking back control over my thought life, telling my mind to get back under right submission! Many women go through massive ups and downs after having a baby but we don't always talk about it for fear of being ridiculed, shamed or simply being expected to "have it all together". What's helped me "climb out of the hole" has number one been, prayer! Even when I don't know what to pray or when my belief is fragile, I pray. Besides, all it takes is a little faith and I believe that the same goes for prayer; no matter how simple, small or otherwise, speaking with God is what makes the difference. I've also been more upfront with my spouse concerning my struggles/feelings and making the choice to reconnect with my dear friends to fight against my usual default of staying isolated. Keeping a gratitude journal, listening to (and writing) positive affirmations, envisioning my future and maintaining a daily schedule has also helped tremendously. Taking part in guided meditations has too been beneficial, I've done this maybe a handful of times. I've too made a concerted effort to do the hard work of facing my unresolved issues through counseling and exposing my weaknesses to not only get help but to be of help to someone else in similar shoes. Just today, I bought a portable swing for the baby, fingers crossed that she loves it =) and our babysitter will come spend some time with the 3 of us this evening to lend me the "extra set of hands" that I've needed. I have found that troubleshooting and seeking practical solutions is crucial in itself. There surely is a light at the end of every dark tunnel and I'm taking things one day at a time! I almost forgot, the song "This is the Day" by Fred Hammond totally elevates my mood and brings God's presence right to me! I'm hoping that in some way this can bless you or someone that you know. **Here is a hotline that can be a resource as well.
